Do you like to photograph in and around town?
Do you like to explore and capture the moment when it occurs?
Look to tell a story with your photographs.
Sometimes I like just heading to downtown Memphis and exploring with my camera. I do quite a bit of Sports events as well as corporate events. Street photography let’s me get away from it all. I’ll always find something to photograph that speaks to me. That’s the excitement of street photography.
WHAT IS STREET PHOTOGRAPHY
Street photography is
photography that features the human condition within
public places and does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. The subject of the photograph might be absent of people and can be an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character in facsimile or aesthetic.
Framing and timing are key aspects of the craft, with the aim of creating images at a decisive or poignant moment. Street photographers create
fine art photography (including street portraits) by capturing people in public places, often with a focus on emotions displayed, thereby also recording
people’s history from an emotional point of view.
Services like
Google Street View also record the public place at a massive scale.
Photojournalists work in public places, capturing newsworthy events, which may include people and private property visible from public places.
Street Photography doesn’t always have to include photos of people. This photograph was taken outside of
Ernestine and Hazel’s, to capture the reflection as well as peering slightly inside the window.
The photograph below was taken outside
BB Kings on Beale Street in Memphis.
Always be looking as you walk around for unique compositions or capturing the moment. This photograph below was taken at the
New Daisy Theatre on Beale. You can see the emotion in her face, which gives it the intrigue and helps to tell a story.
